In October last year, we reported that filming had begun for the new crime series “Murder Commission”, a joint production of Telewizja Polska and the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The 12-episode series is set in Lower Silesia. “Murder Commission...” tells the story of a group of police officers from the Unsolved Cases Division. The fourth episode, partly set at Kliczków Castle near Bolesławiec (Osiecznica commune), will air on TVP1 on Tuesday, 20 September. It starts at 9:25 p.m.
Episode description (according to Vod.tvp.pl):
The Institute of National Remembrance discovers a mass grave containing victims of Stalinist terror. Small items found beside one of the bodies suggest that it may be a WiN soldier, Lieutenant Podhorski, as does a metal plate inserted during an operation he underwent during the war. However, the lieutenant’s cause of death does not fit: according to official documents, unable to cope with his remorse, he committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell, whereas the man found in the mass grave was undoubtedly killed by a shot to the back of the head... The IPN assigns the Murder Commission to solve the mystery. To obtain genetic material, the investigators go to Dr. Frejncz’s clinic in Kliczków, where the lieutenant’s daughter is staying. Maria Podhorska has been in a vegetative state for years after suffering a stroke. It happened after yet another defeat in her struggle to clear her father’s good name, which had been tainted by accusations of treason. Frejncz hopes that restoring the lieutenant’s reputation will help him bring Maria out of her coma, so he collects information about Podhorski and passes it on to the Commission.
In the series, unresolved cases from years ago are solved by Inspector Alicja Grześkowiak (Małgorzata Buczkowska), Deputy Inspector Maciej Stasiński (Krzysztof Pieczyński) and Constable Dominik Hertz (Marcel Sabat). They are joined by the incredibly intelligent and charming Dr Adam Frejncz (Paweł Małaszyński).
“Murder Commission” is another series after “Deep Water” to be set in Lower Silesia. It will feature mysterious interiors and beautiful Lower Silesian landscapes – filming took place, among other locations, in Wrocław, at the castles in Kliczków and Książ, in the former Soviet military areas in Krzywa, in Legnica and Ząbkowice, in the Karkonosze and Owl Mountains, at the Milicz Ponds, on Mount Ślęża, at the Julia Glassworks, and in the “golden complex” RISE near Wałbrzych.
