The tragedy occurred on Sunday, September 11, at approximately 11:15 a.m. in Łomnica (Jelenia Góra County). Preliminary findings by officers indicate that a 28-year-old motorcyclist, traveling with a 26-year-old passenger toward Karpacz, for reasons not yet established, collided head-on with a Mercedes whose driver had signaled a turn into a petrol station. Both the motorcycle driver and his passenger were taken to hospital. Several hours later, the 28-year-old died as a result of his injuries.
The 20-year-old Mercedes driver and the vehicle’s female passenger did not suffer serious injuries. Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. “Motorcyclist, remember that public roads are not racetracks! So think about other drivers,” say Jelenia Góra police officers. “Follow the rules of the road: do not exceed the speed limit; do not force right of way; exercise limited trust toward other drivers; wear reflective clothing to make yourself more visible on the road.”
