Police officers from the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra established through operational activities that a 39-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County probably possessed stolen bicycles worth PLN 100,000. The officers secured 47 bicycles. They are currently checking their origin.
During questioning, the 39-year-old stated that he received the bicycles from a 36-year-old man and was supposed to sell them. Police detained the 36-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra and secured a further three bicycles, this time originating from a theft in one of the European Union countries. Their value was estimated at PLN 7,000. The 36-year-old perpetrator admitted both to stealing the bicycles and to handling stolen goods.
The 36-year-old from Jelenia Góra faces up to five years in prison for bicycle theft and handling stolen goods. The man has already been placed under police supervision and will also have to pay a financial surety.
