Police officers from the Prevention Team of the Karpacz police station, while on duty during the night of August 30–31, stopped a 20-year-old man for inspection as he was riding a moped through the streets of Karpacz. It turned out that the resident of Jelenia Góra County had no vehicle documents. What is more, officers had identified him as a suspect in a burglary and the theft of money.

The officers established that on August 26, the suspect had gone to his friend’s apartment, intending to settle accounts for work he had performed. His acquaintance was not there, so the man decided to collect the debt himself. He forced open a kitchen window, broke into the apartment and robbed it. His haul included a tablet, laptop, watch and silver chain.

During questioning, the 20-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County explained that he had sold or given the stolen items to other acquaintances. Furthermore, on August 27, he stole approximately PLN 1,300 from an unlocked car. The vehicle’s owner had left a wallet containing money on the car seat and gone into a shop to buy groceries. What is more, on August 29, the suspect broke into a garage at a house in one of the localities in Jelenia Góra County, from which he stole a moped. After being detained, he confessed. He could face up to 10 years in prison.
