In an email to the editorial office, a reader wrote:
Could the portal publish an article about our pools on Spacerowa Street? Their glory days are long behind them. When I was there a year ago, after many years away, I wanted to show my children the big, nice pool and—to my horror—it was just as it had been, or perhaps only slightly worse, than when I was a child. My children were terrified that it was so ugly and dirty; they did not even want to get into the water. [...] This year we are not even going, because there is no point. We went to Leśny Potok instead.
She added: “Is there any chance that the city will renovate the old pools? I think the children would then have a great attraction during the holidays.”

We visited the site. While we can agree with the reader regarding the condition of the infrastructure, we did not notice the summer pools on Spacerowa being dirty. “I also think it is clean,” Zbigniew Kowalczyk, head of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec, said in an interview with “ii.” “Maintaining order and cleanliness is a priority for us. But the technical condition is what it is.”
The director himself stresses that the facility requires major investment. The documentation estimates that modernising the entire MOSiR Water and Sports Centre would cost PLN 50 million, while renovating the summer pools would cost approximately PLN 22 million. “We intend to modernise these pools. If we manage to obtain external funding, it will happen sooner or later,” explains Z. Kowalczyk. “We are doing everything we can to open the pools in summer after all. Especially since there is demand. Last year there were days when two or three thousand people visited the pools on Spacerowa. Our record is more than 5,000 people.”
Zbigniew Kowalczyk adds: “Recently, we hosted Lubin mayor Roberta Raczyńskiego at Spacerowa. He was delighted with the facility, climbed the tower and said he felt as if he were in the Bieszczady Mountains.”
