“I often try to implement wonderful ideas, and then it turns out that opinions are divided,” the president emphasized during the August meeting of the City Council. “One example may be our idea concerning a link between Kosiby Street and aleja Tysiąclecia. Today it is clear that we will not include it in the plan. While the residents of Kosiby and Tysiąclecia want such a link, the residents of Jagiellonów Street do not.”

According to P. Roman, the issue will return in several or a dozen years, because “there cannot be one outlet for all the buildings located there.” The president added that municipal officials had held a series of talks with allotment gardeners and residents, and that opinions were “deeply divided.” “But previously, we had only heard that building this link was necessary,” he noted.

Let us recall: in May this year, we reported that the City Council unanimously adopted a resolution on commencing the preparation of a local spatial development plan for areas located around Konradowska, Jagiellonów and Piastów streets and aleja Tysiąclecia in Bolesławiec.

At the time, the president explained that this was an attempt to solve transport problems that residents had been reporting to the municipal authorities for many years. “This concerns, among others, the residents of the so-called 40th Anniversary Estate, for whom shopping centres are located mainly near aleja Tysiąclecia and who, when travelling by car, have to drive down to the city centre and get around either by the stadium, along Spokojna Street, or via Spółdzielcza Street,” the official said at the time.

According to the president, the same was true of the residents of aleja Tysiąclecia. They would also like to have direct access to Starzyńskiego and Kleeberga streets or to the road leading towards Złotoryja. “People themselves are saying that places where several thousand Bolesławiec residents live should be connected: aleja Tysiąclecia, Piastów and Jagiellonów streets, the houses near Kosiby, and the blocks of flats in the 40th Anniversary Estate,” the president noted. He added that the City Office expected lengthy, difficult and controversial consultations. Details in the material Will the 40th Anniversary Estate be connected to aleja Tysiąclecia? What about the allotment gardeners?
