Last week, officers detained two 25-year-old men suspected of stealing an Opel Astra. The police recovered the car before its owner even realised it had been stolen. At that time, the district prosecutor placed the suspects under police supervision.

This week, the same perpetrators were spotted by a traffic patrol. They were driving a car without registration plates. The officers signalled to the driver to stop for inspection, but he began to flee. The two 25-year-olds were detained again, and the officers recovered the stolen trailer. What is more, it emerged that the driver was under the influence of drugs and that, shortly beforehand, both detainees had stolen... one thousand litres of fuel.

The Legnica residents detained for stealing a car, a trailer and 1,000 litres of fuel face up to five years in prison. The police will apply for pre-trial detention.
