Police officers from the Department for Combating Property Crime in Chojnów stopped a van for a road check. The driver and passenger, both residents of Chojnów, were transporting 140 kg of tobacco without Polish excise-duty markings.
The men were detained. It was estimated that if the illegal tobacco had reached the market, the State Treasury could have lost nearly PLN 110,000. Both detainees face up to three years in prison and substantial financial penalties.
