Police officers from Legnica, working together with Border Guard officers, had been working to identify and arrest people possessing significant quantities of tobacco products without Polish excise stamps. The operation resulted in the arrest of two residents of Legnica. Nearly 5,000 packs of illegal cigarettes and 10 kilograms of tobacco were secured. A large portion of the seized goods was found in rooms used by a 75-year-old resident of Legnica.

It was estimated that if the illegal cigarettes and tobacco had reached the market, the State Treasury could have lost PLN 88,000. The arrested men will now face charges for possessing tobacco products without Polish excise stamps. They could face up to 3 years in prison and substantial financial penalties.
