On Saturday, the 1st Open Bolesławiec Orienteering Championships were held near the military shooting range (on the road out of the city toward Lwówek Śląski). The event was organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec and the Tukan Student Sports Club in Iwiny.
A total of 159 competitors from eight Lower Silesian clubs (including clubs from Wrocław, Milicz, Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Świętoszów, Bolesławiec and Iwiny), as well as people who did not train in any club, took part in the competition. The competitors ranged in age. The youngest participant, Julia Wędzina from Bolesławiec, was 3 years old. The oldest participant, Kazimierz Wojtasik from Jelenia Góra, was 65. The competitors were classified in 11 age categories for women and men. Additional competition took place in recreational categories: the Open category for amateurs and the Family category, in which six teams competed.
The best competitors in the Open Bolesławiec Championships received cups, diplomas and commemorative medals. The event also included the Lower Silesian Championships for Student Sports Clubs, won by the UKS Tukan Iwiny team. UKS Gwiazdeczki Świętoszów took second place, while MKS MOS Wrocław came third.
