Traffic regulations apply to all road users. We should take care of our safety by following both these rules and common sense.

– Let us remember that drivers should get used to motorcyclists who do not have a motorcycle licence but, in accordance with the regulations, may ride machines with an engine capacity of up to 125 cc because they have held a category B driving licence for at least three years. In connection with the changes to the regulations that have been in force for two years, there were fears that the number of accidents involving inexperienced motorcyclists would increase. This number has not increased, but that does not mean that accidents do not occur... – the officers emphasize.

Unfortunately, as annual events show, some motorcycle riders let their imagination—or rather, their lack of it—run too far, and reckless riding led to very serious incidents, including fatalities. Recently, an accident involving an 18-year-old motorcyclist occurred on Route 94 between Legnica and Chojnów. According to preliminary findings, during an overtaking manoeuvre, the young driver hit the rear of a car, causing the motorcycle to overturn and resulting in serious injuries.

According to police observations, responsibility for incidents involving motorcyclists lies on both sides of road users—among motorcyclists as well as car drivers. The difference, however, is that even in the case of a minor collision, it is the motorcyclist who ends up with more serious injuries.

Officers: – We therefore ask everyone to exercise caution and follow the regulations. Every road user must bear their own safety and the safety of others in mind.
