The first incident occurred on June 21 in Żeliszów. The owner found her dog dead in the apartment. The dog had been shot with an air rifle. The gunshot wound passed through the chest and the heart. “The animal died on the spot; it was a deliberate shot. The pellet had a sharp tip,” says veterinarian Łukasz Nadwodny.
The second incident occurred on Wednesday in Raciborowice. Two dogs—a female and her three-month-old puppy—were reportedly killed on commission. One of the residents of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality allegedly murdered them with an axe.
“They were struck in the head with a blunt instrument. A small axe dripping with blood was found at the scene. This causes me great outrage. Nowadays, there are many options when someone wants to give up a dog. There are shelters, adoption homes, and so on,” adds veterinarian Łukasz Nadwodny.
The police are conducting proceedings under the Animal Protection Act.
