Piast Wykroty is the second club from Bolesławiec County, alongside GKS Warta Bolesławiecka, that will play in the Lower Silesian fourth division next season. Piast finished second in the Jelenia Góra regional league standings, earning promotion. This is a great success for the players, coach and officials from Wykroty, who fulfilled their own dreams and those of their supporters.

We invite you to read a short interview given to Portal Istotne.pl by Sylwester Kret, Piast Wykroty’s player-coach.

Editorial staff: Piast Wykroty will play in the fourth division. It sounds impressive... Is this the greatest achievement in the club’s history?

Sylwester Kret: Hello to all readers of Portal Istotne.pl. Yes. Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest achievements in the history of the club from Wykroty.

Which of your rivals, in the fight for promotion to the fourth division, caused you the most trouble?

In the fight for promotion to the fourth division, we were at the top of the table for a long time, which particularly affected the derby matches, for example against Łużyce, Orliki and Nysa Zgorzelec.

So the derby matches were the most difficult... Will supporters watch Piast’s fourth-division matches in Wykroty or at another stadium? (There are rumors that Osiecznica or Nowogrodziec may be under consideration.)

That is true. Unfortunately, we have the worst pitch in the entire municipality. We would very much like to play at home, for our own supporters, because traveling to other fields and playing for someone else’s fans is a hard way to make a living. We will do everything possible so that supporters can watch us at our own stadium.

Will you continue as Piast’s coach?

Whether I will continue as coach depends on many things, so for the moment I will leave that question unanswered (smiles).

Are you planning any reinforcements to the squad?

The team will mainly be built around the players who fought for promotion. However, there is no denying that we need reinforcements. Which new faces will we see? Time will tell.

What would you like to say to Portal Istotne.pl readers at the end of this short conversation?

I encourage all readers to spend time actively outdoors (not at the computer), and I encourage them to take up sport.

Thank you for the conversation. Congratulations to you, the team, the officials and the supporters, and I wish you success and many positive emotions on the fourth-division pitches.

Thank you as well for the conversation, and I already invite everyone to the match in Wykroty. Best regards (smiles).
