On Saturday, at the sports hall on Komuny Paryskiej Street, TOP’s table tennis players hosted the team from Gorzów. It was the final match of the second-division table tennis competition, with promotion to the first division at stake. Following the draw, Tomasz Fortunko and Łukasz Jaźwiec (TOP) and Radosław Żabski and Meng Zehn (Gorzovia) came to the first table. The match ended with a 5:0 victory for the visitors.

Mateusz Kowal, a player from TOP’s third-division team, made a successful appearance and debuted in the second division. In his match against Szymon Kulczycki, our player fought as an equal, although he ultimately lost to the player from Gorzów 9:11. In Robert Girulski’s match against Jacek Nowokuński, it looked as though TOP would claim its first victory. However, at 0:2, the player from Gorzów played extraordinarily effectively and, with difficulty, defeated the captain of the Bolesławiec team, increasing the visitors’ lead to 6:0.

For the next doubles match, the players from Gorzów fielded their strongest weapon—the Chinese player Meng Zehn. With this lineup, there could be no surprise, and the visitors won 3:0. In his final match, Girulski managed to bring the score to 2:2 in his match against Szymon Kulczycki, but once again, in the fifth set, Gorzovia’s captain proved his superiority.

TOP’s opponents are a team that until recently played in the third division. However, Gorzów Wielkopolski is a city of great opportunities, and a major sponsor—a table tennis enthusiast—was found there. By investing in the team, he set promotion to the first division as his goal. Gorzovia’s participation in the second division is a one-year episode whose main objective is promotion to the top flight. The Gorzów team consists of players who until recently played for first-division teams, while the Asian player plays for first-division Odra Głoska Księginice. He was loaned to Gorzów to ensure the team’s promotion to a higher competition level.
