ICE (In Case of Emergency) means “in case of emergency”. It is an international abbreviation indicating whom rescuers should call if necessary.
In the event of an accident or another emergency, our loved ones often do not know what has happened or where we are. We rarely have the most important contact numbers written in our identity card or other documents we carry in our wallet. One way of storing such information may be a durable plastic card on which you can write the telephone numbers of three people closest to you.
Another method is to use special mobile phone apps or enter the abbreviation ICE before a contact in your phone book, for example, ICE Mum. If there are several such people, enter them under the names ICE1, ICE2, and so on.
– Let us remember that in the event of an accident, every minute is of enormous importance to our lives. Having ICE in your phone or carrying a special card makes it possible to quickly contact someone who can provide rescuers with the necessary information about us, which is why we encourage you to use solutions of this kind! – say the officers from Bolesławiec.
More information about ICE cards is available on the website of the Polish Red Cross.
