Police officers conducting operational activities targeting cross-border crime identified and arrested two suspects in property-related offences. The detainees are men aged 49 and 57. One of them stole a professional lathe, while the other helped hide it.
The arrests took place after police officers received information from their German colleagues about the theft of a professional lathe from one of the production halls. The theft occurred in March this year.
Officers determined that the equipment could be hidden on a property near Jelenia Góra. The police officers’ suspicions proved correct—they found the stolen lathe, worth €30,000, and arrested the 57-year-old owner of the property, who has already been charged with handling stolen goods. It was only a matter of time before the thief was arrested; he turned out to be a 49-year-old resident of Zgorzelec.
Both detainees face up to five years in prison.
