During the April session of the City Council, the award was presented by the mayor, Piotr Roman, and the Council chairman, Jarosław Kowalski, and received by Joanna Sawicka, head of the ZHP Gray Ranks Scout Troop:
Thank you very much for this distinction. I say “thank you” on behalf of all of us because this is not solely my achievement. What happens in the troop is thanks to the people who have worked voluntarily and for the community for many years. We do what we like, what gives us satisfaction.
– The fact that I can receive such a prestigious award today is thanks to my predecessor, Zdzisław Abramowicz, the scoutmaster noted.
She added:
One of the journalists asked me whether scouting is not somewhat anachronistic anymore. We are very strongly committed to continuing traditions and promoting patriotic ideas. And we are still an organisation of young people—those who are entering the future and whom we are preparing for it. We try to do this so that they are not merely imitators, but also creators of reality. This is one of our fundamental principles.
