One of the items on the agenda of the Bolesławiec City Council session held on Wednesday, April 20, was a vote on a draft resolution concerning the designation of a degraded area and a revitalization area within the Municipality of Bolesławiec. Tomasz Gabrysiak, head of the Department of Development and Promotion, spoke: “This draft resolution is the result of a process that began last year. The enactment by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of the Revitalization Act prompted the preparation of documents related to the Municipal Revitalization Program.”Tomasz Gabrysiak

On its basis, Mayor Piotr Roman appointed a coordination team to prepare the Municipal Revitalization Program. Municipal officials selected those areas of the city that are “affected by the greatest problems” and where “crisis phenomena occur with the greatest intensity.” Map below:

The revitalization area accounts for 11% of the area of the Municipality of Bolesławiec and is inhabited by 29.9% of its residents. T. Gabrysiak:

The degraded area is considerably larger than the revitalization area, but this is because a revitalization area may cover no more than 20% of the city’s area and may be inhabited by no more than 30% of its residents.

If the city councillors had not adopted this resolution, preparing the Municipal Revitalization Program and, consequently, obtaining funding for this purpose would have been impossible.

The councillors adopted the resolution unanimously. We will return to the matter.
