On the night from Sunday to Monday, a resident of the Przylesie housing estate in Lubin heard noises. The disturbing sounds were coming from the basement. As it was 2:00 a.m., the woman began to suspect that thieves might be there. She informed the Lubin police duty officer of her suspicions. He dispatched officers from the Prevention and Road Traffic Department to the scene.
The officers arrested two men. As it turned out, the perpetrators had been operating in the basement for some time. Before their arrest, they had managed to break into seven basement units and a pram storage room. They took everything from inside that was of any value to them. Both men (aged 22 and 33, residents of Lubin) were placed in police custody.
Police determined that the suspects had obtained, by an undetermined means, a key to the entrance door leading to the basement rooms. Using it, they easily gained access inside. They then broke into the basement units one by one, robbing them. The perpetrators stole power tools, homemade liqueurs, a monitor and other items.
The officers recovered the stolen property. The burglars face up to 10 years in prison.
