Officers from the Police Station in Warta Bolesławiecka detained a 19-year-old resident of Gdańsk suspected of attempting to commit an economic crime.
The teenager set up a fictitious construction company. As its owner, he wanted to rent scaffolding to carry out a job he had never received.
The rental cost was PLN 2,500, while the value of the scaffolding itself—which was not supposed to be returned to its owner—was PLN 30,000.
Police officers detained the fraudster as he was loading the “rented” equipment into a car. The suspect admitted that he had no job and that he had planned to sell the scaffolding obtained through the fraud.
The resident of Gdańsk now faces up to eight years in prison.
