Police officers from the Criminal Department of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra detained a 67-year-old woman from Jelenia Góra suspected of theft. Their investigation established that the incident occurred on April 6 in one of the clothing stores in Jelenia Góra. Taking advantage of the staff’s momentary inattention, the woman noticed a portable terminal left unattended, used to verify barcodes, and stole it. The owner estimated the value of the stolen property at nearly PLN 4,000.
Based on the information gathered and surveillance footage, police officers identified and detained the woman suspected of committing the crime.
The woman explained that she had stolen the device because she thought it was a mobile phone. Only later did she realize that the terminal was useless to her.
She now faces up to five years in prison.
