The building of the Stary Theatre in Bolesławiec is in poor technical condition. The wings added to the main structure are shifting away and sinking. The building is at risk of collapse. For this reason, the Building Inspector has prohibited entry to the theatre. All events and classes held in the building have been cancelled.
The owner of the Stary Theatre is the District Office. Efforts to have the building entered into the register of historic monuments began at the start of this year. “At the request of the District Office, the Museum of Ceramics is preparing an application for the entry of the Stary Theatre building and the Youth Cultural Centre building into the register,” says Anna Bober-Tubaj, director of the Bolesławiec museum. Entry into the register will make it easier, among other things, to obtain European Union funding for a comprehensive renovation of the theatre.
