A Dutchman driving a passenger car hit the barriers. After the incident, he got out of the car, crossed the motorway and was hit on the other side by a lorry. The police stopped traffic in both directions. They checked whether anyone else had been travelling with the Dutchman and whether anyone had fallen out of the car during the collision.
All emergency services were at the scene: the police, ambulance service and fire brigade.
