The findings made so far indicate that a 32-year-old resident of Gryfów Śląski Tomasz Dz. manufactured explosive devices without the required permit between February and March 15, 2016, acting jointly and in agreement with another person.

He subsequently detonated the devices he had made, together with other people, damaging on February 18 the bodywork of a Nissan Primera passenger car belonging to Ewa S., and on March 15 the bodywork of an Opel Astra belonging to Magdalena W. Ewa S. estimated the resulting damage at PLN 500, while Magdalena W. estimated it at PLN 1,000.

The prosecutor charged Tomasz Dz. with committing an offense under Article 171 § 1 of the Penal Code (“Anyone who, without the required permit or contrary to its conditions, manufactures, processes, collects, possesses, uses or trades in an explosive substance or device, radioactive material, a device emitting ionizing radiation, or another object or substance that may pose a danger to the life or health of many people or to property on a large scale shall be subject to imprisonment for between 6 months and 8 years”) and Article 288 § 1 of the Penal Code (“Anyone who destroys, damages or renders another person’s property unfit for use shall be subject to imprisonment for between 3 months and 5 years”).

Furthermore, in connection with items discovered during the search, he was also charged under Article 263 § 2 of the Penal Code (possession without a permit of ammunition in the form of 34 rounds of various calibers and a gas pistol) and Article 62(1) of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction (possession of a psychotropic substance in the form of 0.27 g of methamphetamine).

Questioned as a suspect, Tomasz Dz. admitted to committing the acts of which he was accused and provided explanations consistent with the established facts.

A charge under Article 171 § 1 of the Penal Code and Article 288 § 1 of the Penal Code concerning damage caused to Ewa S. was also brought against 34-year-old Jan M. (a resident of the same town), who denied committing them.

In addition, 28-year-old Damian M., also a resident of Gryfów, was charged under Article 288 § 1 of the Penal Code with damage caused to Magdalena W. The suspect admitted to the act and provided explanations that correspond with the findings.

On March 17 this year, the District Prosecutor in Lwówek Śląski applied preventive measures to suspects Tomasz Dz. and Jan M. in the form of police supervision and a ban on leaving the country.

Suspects Jan M. and Damian M. had not previously been convicted. Tomasz Dz. and Jan M. face up to 8 years in prison.

The proceedings are ongoing.
