The Constitutional Tribunal ruled that the expiry of the mandate of a commune head, mayor or city president as a result of failing to submit a financial disclosure statement on time, and the expiry of a councillor’s mandate as a result of failing to submit a financial disclosure statement on time, are unconstitutional. This means that Karol Stasik, a councillor on the Bolesławiec County Council and its Chairman, who submitted a statement concerning his wife’s business activity after the deadline, will remain a councillor. At the last session, Law and Justice councillors wanted Stasik not to chair the session because, in their opinion, he might not have held a councillor’s mandate.

“Justice has been done. Common sense has prevailed. The law exists so that people can live. People do not live solely in order to apply the law,” Karol Stasik told Boleslawiec.org shortly after the Tribunal announced its decision.

“It is very good that Karol Stasik is staying. I worked with him for four years and know him from the good side. I wish him all the best,” said Krystyna Boratyńska, a Law and Justice councillor on the Bolesławiec County Council, after the Constitutional Tribunal’s decision.
