The exhibition title is a paraphrase of the refrain from Adam Kowalski’s 1935 song “Three Maidens.” The original reads: “Three maidens, all from Vilnius...”

The many guests who came to the opening at the “mała Biała” gallery admired the beautiful works of Bolesławiec residents Joanna Bruździńska, Jolanta Koźmin and Jolanta Filipowicz.

The opening began with a happening by the BOK-MCC theatre workshop led by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz. Participants in the “hallo group,” wearing characteristic 1920s clothing, presented excerpts from Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński’s novel “Stefania.”

On behalf of BOK-MCC, Katarzyna Zarówny, who works with exhibitions on a daily basis, welcomed the Bolesławiec residents attending the opening. In her speech, she emphasized how important it is to showcase the local gems of our region. “I am convinced that no one creates solely and exclusively for themselves, that creativity is a form of dialogue between a person and their surroundings,” said Katarzyna Zarówny.

The exhibition aimed to draw attention to the work of women from Bolesławiec. Although they have no formal education in the fields they presented and pursue their creative work as amateurs, they impressed visitors with their artistic achievements. Jolanta Koźmin presented watercolors, drawings made using dry pastel techniques, and acrylics on canvas; Joanna Bruździńska presented fine-art photography, while Jolanta Filipowicz presented quilts that captivate with their form and colors.

A considerable number of women joined in our celebration and decided to attend the opening in outfits inspired by 1920s style. They took part in a raffle, during which Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, Director of BOK-MCC, drew prizes donated by Termy Bolesławiec, Restauracja Oleńka na Starówce, and Salon kosmetyczny Fabryka urody in Bolesławiec. In addition, two paintings by Jolanta Koźmin were raffled off.

The exhibition is open until April 7, 2016.
