On Saturday (March 5), from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., concerned about pedestrian safety, police officers from the Traffic Department of the Bolesławiec police headquarters conducted a nationwide operation called “Vulnerable Road Users.” During the operation, officers checked whether pedestrians were complying with traffic regulations and crossing at designated locations. The operation also aimed to draw drivers’ attention to pedestrians as vulnerable road users.
During the operation, officers issued:
- 84 fines to pedestrians who crossed in prohibited places,
- 16 fines to drivers who, when making a conditional right turn (on a green arrow), failed to stop before the stop line or, if there was no stop line, before the traffic signal
In addition, during Saturday’s operation, officers stopped three drivers who, despite having previously consumed alcohol, got behind the wheel. A 48-year-old resident of Bolesławiec municipality and a 58-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka municipality drove while intoxicated, thereby committing a crime. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old resident of Bolesławiec committed an offense because he drove after consuming alcohol.
