In mid-February, a meeting with an exorcist, Salesian priest Marcin Kozyra from Lubin, was organized at the Construction School Complex in Bolesławiec. The priest is known not only for “casting out evil spirits,” but also for the incident involving middle-school students licking foam off his knees during a freshman initiation ceremony.
A negative comment appeared on Facebook beneath the information about the exorcist’s visit. The school suggested that the comment’s author organize an alternative meeting:
Krecik: Let them perform exorcisms among their own, instead of involving young people in their black mass. [...]
ZSB: [...] You can always organize an alternative meeting on a different subject, with different guests. We are waiting for suggestions and will be happy to help organize it.
We responded to the school’s invitation:
Istotne.pl: As it happens, we have the contact details of an experienced tarot reader who wrote the book “Tarot and Religion.” Could such an alternative meeting be organized at the school?
ZSB: If you are interested, please contact the school office. The decision to organize meetings with invited guests is made by the school principal.
We therefore sent an official proposal to the school administration:
Following the discussion on Facebook beneath the post about the exorcist’s visit to the school (https://www.facebook.com/zsb2boleslawiec/posts/1667973960128210), we would like to propose a meeting with a tarot reader from Kraków, the author of the book “Tarot and Religion.” The tarot reader would talk about cards, magic, and the benefits that can be gained from tarot.
Would it be possible to organize such a meeting with students on the school premises in the spring?
Unfortunately, the school’s proposal was just a bluff. After remaining silent for several days, the institution finally refused:
We kindly inform you that we will not accept your proposal.
In our opinion, this shows that the school is excessively religious and presents students with one selected way of viewing reality. At times, belief in possession and exorcisms replaces professional medical or psychological help. In our view, this kind of oversimplified presentation of the world can do more harm than showing tarot and explaining its symbolism.
We would be happy to hear your opinions on this subject.
