The comedy “Długi ŁYKend”, directed by Piotr Dąbrowski, is a superbly written classic comedy with excellent dialogue and surprising plot twists. The play was translated from English by Mirosław Połatyński, a Polish actor and director who has lived in Canada for years, where he completed directing studies. This intelligently adapted play gains a particular authenticity and sense of familiarity in its Polish setting.
In the play, two pairs of acquaintances—a lawyer and a psychotherapist, as well as an inept screenwriter and a shop owner—spent a weekend at a summer cottage lost somewhere in the forests of eastern Poland. During their several-day getaway, their lives were turned upside down, and the decisions they made unimaginably thwarted the fortunes of both couples. We saw a mixture of emotions: love, friendship, hatred and jealousy… served with a great sense of humor. The actors rose to the occasion and portrayed their assigned roles brilliantly. The witty dialogue guaranteed the audience intelligent entertainment, repeatedly making the viewers laugh, and they thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
