The story shocked the world in 2002. But the journalists’ discoveries were merely the tip of the iceberg… Shortly after taking up his post, the new editor of The Globe, Marty Baron (Liev Schreiber), assigns the journalists to investigate a priest accused of sexually abusing children over a period of 30 years.

Aware of the scandal’s sensitivity and the public reaction it will provoke, the reporters delve into the case. The team consists of Walter “Robby” Robinson (Michael Keaton), Sacha Pfeiffer (Rachel McAdams – nominated for this year’s Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film), Michael Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo; pictured) and Matt Carroll (Brian d’Arcy James). A journalistic investigation begins, producing results that will shock the entire world and shake America.

The journalists contact a lawyer for the victims (Stanley Tucci) and reach adults who were abused during childhood. It soon becomes clear that the case is larger than anyone initially suspected; it reaches into the Church authorities, who covered up the crimes for years.

The film received the top awards at many festivals. It was also recognized by film organizations, including with three Gotham Independent Film Awards (Best Film, Best Director and Best Ensemble), as well as the Hollywood Film Award for Best Screenplay. It received three Golden Globe nominations – Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
