A 43-year-old resident of Zgorzelec suspected of handling stolen goods was arrested during police operations targeting people suspected of vehicle-related crimes. Officers determined that a vehicle that might have been stolen was parked in one of the shopping-centre car parks. It turned out that the car had licence plates assigned to a vehicle of another make.
At one point—the vehicle was under constant observation—a man approached the car and sat behind the wheel. He was arrested. What is more, it emerged that the Audi, worth PLN 80,000, had been stolen several hours earlier from one of the border towns in Germany.
The car was secured, and the detained man has already been charged with handling stolen goods. He faces up to five years in prison.
