Tickets (PLN 10 each) can be purchased at the Satyrykon Gallery (Rynek 36) from Tuesday to Friday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aleksy Awdiejew, known as Alosza Awdiejew, is an institution in his own right, a one-man orchestra. A man of culture and science. He is an exceptional stage artist and, at the same time, an outstanding scholar—a professor at Jagiellonian University. He also acts in films, writes popular columns and translates poetry. A Russian with Polish citizenship, he first came to Kraków in 1967 and fell in love with Poland.
The early 1990s saw the formation of a new band. Double bassist Kazimierz Adamczyk had already been playing with Alosza for years, but at that time guitarist Marek Piątek joined them, creating the famous Alosza Awdiejew Trio.
The group has already given more than 2,000 concerts, full of music and humour, in Poland, the USA, France, Israel, Germany and Spain, performing both for audiences of many thousands and for very intimate groups of sophisticated listeners. They have appeared on several dozen television programmes, including their own recitals and tribute events. They have released 10 albums featuring Romani music, romances and songs from the streets of Odessa, as well as a recording of a concert at Piwnica pod Baranami introduced by Piotr Skrzynecki himself.
