In January 2016, 78 incidents occurred in our county: 33 fires, 37 local hazards (that is, incidents resulting from civilizational development and the natural laws of nature, which were neither fires nor natural disasters but posed a threat to life, health, property or the environment; these included, for example, road accidents) and 8 false alarms.

In Bolesławiec alone, there were 16 fires, 19 local hazards and 4 false alarms during this period. Moreover, between January 1 and February 11 this year, there were 18 chimney soot fires. In three cases, a soot fire caused roof structures to catch fire and buildings to be damaged.

– We once again remind you that chimney flues are used only to discharge combustion gases, and any ignition of soot accumulated inside them is dangerous – firefighters from the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service say. – Let us not allow soot to accumulate in chimney flues!

They add: – At the same time, we ask you to exercise caution when spending time in open green areas. This year, firefighters in Bolesławiec County have already extinguished dry grass fires four times.

Another chimney soot fire occurred on Thursday, February 11, at around 8:00 p.m., in a multi-family house on al. Tysiąclecia. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, no one was injured.
