The incident occurred on February 2. At around 5 p.m., the duty officer at the Lubin police station received an unusual report. A concerned resident of Lubin said that a Mazda passenger car had driven into one of the city’s parking lots. A man got out, then approached a stone lying on the ground, lifted it, took an object from underneath it and put it in his pocket. He then covered everything with leaves and put the stone back.
When the police officers arrived at the scene, they suspected they would be dealing with drug trafficking. However, as it turned out, they found only a box containing small toys under the stone.
The officers from the Prevention Department then realized that they were dealing with the game of geocaching. It is a treasure-hunting activity using a GPS receiver.
“The Lubin police thank the residents of our city for their vigilance, although this time, fortunately, it turned out to be nothing more than an innocent game,” the officers concluded.
