As we read on the Facebook profile of the Volunteer Fire Service in Osiecznica:
At around 8:30 p.m., we were dispatched to burning soot in the chimney flue at Kliczków Castle. The operation lasted approximately one hour and involved units from the Bolesławiec State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit and the Osiecznica Volunteer Fire Service.
Update
We received a letter from Kliczków Castle. Here is its content:
We would like to inform you that there was no fire at Kliczków Castle. The report was filed by an employee of Kliczków Castle, who noticed a flame on the chimney. The fire was caused by a spark entering the chimney. The entire situation was not dangerous. Such incidents often occur when cleaning grates in stoves. The firefighters inspected the rooms and the roof, and found no fire hazard.
The firefighters confirm that soot caught fire in the chimney and that such things can happen even in freshly cleaned chimneys. They also confirm that the Castle was not in danger in this case because the chimney had a suitable sheet-metal liner.
