This year, the traditional concert will be enhanced for the first time with a dance performance. Young dancers from Germany, Poland and Switzerland will create a unique contemporary dance spectacle, which will also have its world premiere on 15 January. O. Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time” will this year be performed by young artists from France, Italy and Austria.

The extraordinary evening on 15 January will begin with the equally exceptional work “Cloches d'adieu, et un sourire... in memoriam Olivier Messiaen”. The author of this work, Tristan Murail, composed it shortly after the death of O. Messiaen, his mentor and teacher. The performance of this piece marks the beginning of future cooperation with Tristan Murail, who plans to create a new contemporary music composition for Meetingpoint Music Messiaen in 2017. The piece “Cloches d'adieu, et un sourire...” will be performed by a young pianist from Zgorzelec, Justyna Chmielowiec.

The concert will be opened by our guest of honour, Scott Perkins (Assistant at DePauw University/Indiana, USA).

Bus (PLN 4) – departs from the Busbahnhof Görlitz stop at Demianiplatz (next to the Kaisertrutz Museum) at 6:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. The bus stops at all stops in Zgorzelec in the direction of the city centre.

The concert is held under the patronage of the Mayor of the City of Zgorzelec and the Lord Mayor of the City of Görlitz.
