Police officers from the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra established the identity and then arrested a 32-year-old resident of Piechowice who seriously injured two other residents of the same town with a knife, as well as a 23-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man who took part in the fight.

As officers established, the incident took place on New Year's Eve on one of the streets in Piechowice. The intoxicated victims accosted a 23-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man who were waiting for a car outside one of the stores. An argument broke out, followed by a fight, during which the 32-year-old arrived, pulled out a knife and seriously injured the brothers. After the incident, all three fled.

A passer-by notified the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra about the crime. The injured men, who had suffered serious injuries, were taken to hospital.

The officers began searching for the attacker and the pair who had taken part in the incident. Based on the information gathered in the case, the officers identified and then—later that same day—arrested the man suspected of causing serious bodily harm, as well as the woman and man who had taken part in the fight.

All three were taken into police custody. Based on the collected procedural evidence, the court temporarily detained the 32-year-old for one month, while the woman and man were placed under police supervision and banned from leaving the country.

The 32-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison for the crime, while his acquaintances could be sentenced to up to 3 years.
