Officers from the Traffic Departments of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec and Bolesławiec and the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters arrested, in a direct pursuit, a 25-year-old man who was driving a car stolen in Germany.
During their operations, police officers from Zgorzelec suspected that the Audi A6 might be stolen and attempted to stop the vehicle for inspection. Despite clear signs and signals, the car did not stop. While fleeing, the driver repeatedly exceeded the speed limit and forced other vehicles off the road. Breaking traffic regulations, the driver fled from the intervening police officers toward Legnica, additionally causing collisions with several other cars.
Joint roadblock and pursuit operations by traffic officers from Zgorzelec, Legnica and Bolesławiec led to the driver’s arrest. It turned out that the officers’ earlier suspicions were correct: the Audi A6 had been stolen in Germany. The driver was a 25-year-old resident of Legnica who had probably been driving under the influence of intoxicating substances. He was placed under police supervision. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
