As officers established, the incident occurred at the beginning of December this year in Karpacz. The victim trusted the 32-year-old woman and gave her his ATM card along with the PIN so that she could withdraw PLN 40 from his account. The money was intended for shopping for a sick person who is in hospital. The man also lent the 32-year-old his car so that she could drive to the ATM.
It turned out that the woman returned neither the card nor the car to the man. Police established that between 7 and 12 December this year, the woman withdrew cash from the victim’s account 12 times. The owner estimated his total losses at nearly PLN 3,000.
What is more, it emerged that this was not the first time the 32-year-old had used friends’ cars and then failed to return them. Proceedings concerning the appropriation of another vehicle are being conducted by police officers from Karpacz.
The detained woman now faces up to 10 years in prison.
