Last week, officers from the criminal division in Zgorzelec conducted operations targeting people suspected of vehicle theft. During their activities, the officers identified the man responsible for the theft of a passenger car, which occurred in Milicz County. He turned out to be a 20-year-old resident of Zgorzelec Municipality. The police recovered the stolen car. However, it turned out that this was not the only theft the man had allegedly committed.

The same suspect, late in the evening of December 8 this year, stole a vehicle from one of Zgorzelec’s streets, which... he decided to use to visit his brother, who lived in Milicz. However, the vehicle ran out of fuel during the journey, so the 20-year-old abandoned it. He stated that, having no way to return home, he stole another car. In one of the towns in Milicz County, he noticed a car with the keys in the ignition. He stole the vehicle and drove it home. The perpetrator intended to sell it for parts, but because he was arrested, he did not manage to do so.

The police established that the man had another theft on his record. This time, in Trzebnica County, he noticed the keys left in the ignition of a passenger car and... stole the vehicle.

The officers are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of these incidents in detail and are checking whether the detained man has committed other similar crimes.

Based on the materials gathered by the officers, the court ordered the suspect to be held in temporary custody for two months. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
