Piotr Roman: “I sent congratulatory letters to all the MPs and senators who were elected not only from our constituency, in which I outlined the most important matters, from our point of view, that need to be addressed. These included the construction of the southern A18 carriageway, the bridge over the Bóbr and several others.”

He added: “We are waiting for further appointments. There is still no Lower Silesian Voivode [sesja miała miejsce pod koniec listopada – przyp. „ii”]. This is something of a period of inertia: nothing more can be arranged with the officials who are leaving, while new ones have not yet been appointed. We have to wait. There is a new government, and there will be changes in all, I suspect, institutions associated with the government. Then we will return to the subject.”

The investments mentioned fall under the responsibility of the Minister of Transport and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. “We will lobby for them,” the mayor announced. He also recalled that two factors had contributed to the southern carriageway of the motorway not being built. The first concerned environmental protection regulations. The second was related to funding. “When it became clear that meeting all the environmentalists’ demands would require paying twice as much for the investment, the decision was made to transfer those funds to roads in Warsaw. Instead of the A18 motorway, part of Warsaw’s ring road was built,” P. Roman explained.

The situation was similar in the case of the planned construction of the bridge over the Bóbr. It then turned out that the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways had decided that all the money would go to cities that hosted the European Football Championship.

What will happen this time is not yet known. We will return to the subject.
