On Friday, 4 December 2015, the Museum of Ceramics hosted the ceremonial presentation of awards in the Bolesławiec Mayor’s competition for the best master’s or doctoral thesis on the history and contemporary life of Bolesławiec, defended in the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic years at all public and private universities in Poland and abroad.

The competition jury—comprising Prof. Grzegorz Strauchold, PhD, DSc Grzegorz Strauchold (University of Wrocław), Prof. Robert Masztalski, PhD, DSc, Eng. Robert Masztalski (Wrocław University of Technology), Prof. Waldemar Tyc, PhD, DSc Waldemar Tyc (Wrocław University of Economics), and Jerzy Zieliński, the City Secretary, and Jacek Dudyński, head of the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre—did not award first prize this year.

The second prize, worth PLN 2,000, went to Monika Bartos for her master’s thesis entitled “Multimedia Library in Bolesławiec,” written at the Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Technology under the supervision of Dr. Eng. Arch. Maciej Stojak.

The third prize, worth PLN 1,000, was awarded to Stanisław Ratajski, author of the thesis “Identity and Social Memory of Those Displaced from the Eastern Borderlands of the Second Polish Republic to Bolesławiec,” written at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław under the supervision of Dr. hab. Stella Grotowska. Additionally, by decision of the jury, excerpts from the thesis will be published in the 2015 Bolesławiec Yearbook.

The supervisors of the winning theses also received cash prizes of PLN 1,000. Congratulations to the winners!

This was already the ninth edition of the Bolesławiec Mayor’s competition for the best master’s or doctoral thesis on the history and contemporary life of Bolesławiec. A total of 43 theses were submitted between 2007 and 2015.
