“Żeliszów – Faithful to Its Roots” is the second book describing a village in Gmina Bolesławiec published by the Bolesławiec Municipal Office. This time, it recounts the history of Żeliszów and the people connected with it.
The residents of our municipality have once again shown that they are its most valuable asset. Without their commitment and the heart they put into creating the publication, it would never have been printed. The book is a collection of private memories, photographs from family albums, keepsakes passed down from generation to generation, old documents… Andrzej Dutkowski, Head of Gmina Bolesławiec, thanked several times everyone who contributed to the creation of the book.
The publication was written by Sebastian Zielonka. However, as he emphasized while symbolically presenting the first copy to the Head of the Municipality, it is the work of everyone present in the hall of the Community Center in Żeliszów. The hall was filled to capacity. Most importantly, entire families came that Friday evening—grandparents, parents and children, young and old.
A short recital by Andrzej Iwaszko, who comes from Lviv, was a surprise for those gathered. He performed several pieces and, at the end, invited everyone present to sing along.
Everyone present received a copy of “Żeliszów – Faithful to Its Roots.” At the end, it was also possible to obtain the author’s autograph.
The book launch was accompanied by a specially prepared exhibition about Żeliszów. The local Rural Housewives’ Association provided the sweet refreshments.
