For several days, bulldozers have been working in Bolesławiec’s Market Square. The machines are removing the old asphalt and the paving stones beneath it. They will soon be replaced with new granite paving stones. The investment is worth more than PLN 4.297 million. The European Regional Development Fund will provide 75% of the funding, the Ministry of Regional Development 10%, and the Municipality of Bolesławiec will cover 15%.

As part of the current investment, the entire Market Square will be paved, and Bolesław Prus Street will be converted into a pedestrian passage. The work is scheduled for completion in October 2007.

The renovation of the main Market Square, together with Bolesław Prus Street, is part of the “New Old Town” programme. The programme, which will be implemented over the next several years, aims to renovate the Old Town and refurbish the 69 tenement houses adjoining the Market Square.
