Officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters detained a woman suspected of possessing tobacco without Polish excise stamps as a result of operational activities.
The suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. During a search of the residential and utility premises occupied by the woman, police officers discovered and secured tobacco without Polish excise stamps. The 20 kg of illegal goods was found in a large jute sack. The officers detained the suspect and secured the tobacco. The 39-year-old admitted that the tobacco belonged to her.
Police are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail. Among other things, they are checking where the secured property came from. The losses incurred by the State Treasury due to the reduction in excise tax amount to nearly PLN 15,000.
The woman will now stand trial for the offense of which she is suspected. Under the provisions of the Fiscal Penal Code, she could face up to 3 years in prison, as well as substantial financial penalties.
