The event was organized by the “Baryt” Search and Rescue Unit, the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special “Commando” Company, and the “Baryt” Military Shooting Club.
Eight six-person teams from military-profile classes took part in the combined event. They represented five upper-secondary schools in Lower Silesia and competed in Shooting No. 1 with AKMS assault rifles and small-caliber rifles. At the same time, as part of the so-called Little Commando Cross, the teams took part in an armed cross-country march.
In the overall classification, first place went to the team representing the Upper-Secondary School Complex in Luban, second place to the Economic and Technical School Complex in Rakowice Wielkie, while the team from General Secondary School No. 3 in Legnica had to settle for third place. The president of WKS Baryt’s trophies went to these schools.
In the individual classification, held outside the competition, the best result with a 7.62 mm AKMS was achieved by Jakub Rugiełło from the School Complex in Zgorzelec, who scored 47 points. He also received a special award from the commander of JPR. Equally fierce competition took place on the 3-kilometre cross-country route, where six-person teams equipped with five AKMS rifles and a PK machine gun achieved very good results. The team from Rakowice Wielkie completed the task in an excellent time of 16 minutes and 22 seconds.
The students from Luban achieved a result just 29 seconds slower. At the finish, they received commemorative medals from Andrzej Kobzda, vice-president of the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special “Commando” Company.
At the assembly concluding the combined event, an agreement on cooperation in pro-defence youth training was formally signed by the Commando Association and the management of the Economic School Complex in Piechowice.
