Those present included Lower Silesian Voivode Tomasz Smolarz, Legnica Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski, MP Ewa Szymańska and Wacław Szetelnicki, chair of the City Council.
The President of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Economy awarded state decorations to employees of Legnica’s local-government and business institutions. In recognition of exemplary and exceptionally conscientious performance of official duties, Voivode Tomasz Smolarz presented Gold Medals for Long Service to: Halina Cydzik, Jadwiga Łopusiewicz, Elżbieta Łukaszewicz, Krystyna Madej, Barbara Ryczek, Ewa Watral and Danuta Wirkijowska. The Silver Medals went to: Bożena Brzeskot, Bożena Czerwińska, Renata Sosnowska-Noworól, Bogusława Raczyńska and Grzegorz Żądło.
Honorary Badges for Merits in the Development of the Economy of the Republic of Poland were awarded to: Zbigniew Baran, Krzysztof Majstrowicz, Zbigniew Młotek, Jan Mroczka, Janusz Prus, Wiesław Ślipko and Marian Urbaniak. The 25th-anniversary medals of the Polish Chamber of Commerce went to: Zbigniew Baran, Krzysztof Safin, Krzysztof Główny, Wiesław Sagan and Olgierd Łańcucki.
Representatives of Legnica’s business community—including both entrepreneurs and companies—were also honoured. Letters of congratulations on the 25th anniversary of Poland’s transformation from the president of the Polish Chamber of Commerce were received by: Modernbud Sp. z o.o., Janina and Jan Kopczowie, Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlano-Montażowe Olgierd Łańcucki, Krzysztof Dobrygowski, Wiesław Szumksta, Aleksy Ignaczak, Tadeusz Eckert, Winkelmann Sp. z o.o., Rank Progres SA and Jerzy Nadolny.
The Main Board of the Siberians’ Association also presented its own decorations. Silver Badges of Merit for the Association were awarded to: Janina Bała, Zofia Berlińska, Czesława Kaszewska, Danuta Kożewnikow and Maria Majgier. The Honorary Badge went to: Zofia Berlińska, Czesława Kaszewska, Jan Piskorski and Józef Świst. It was also presented to the banners of the Legnica branch of the Siberians’ Association and Primary School No. 4 in Legnica.
Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski congratulated the recipients of the decorations and distinctions on their achievements. “You can be proud of your accomplishments for the good of Legnica and the country,” he said. He thanked the voivode for attending and lending distinction to Legnica’s National Independence Day celebrations.
