On 21 October, an unusual event took place at the Municipal Library in Ocice. Our students had the opportunity to meet and talk with journalist and writer, author of poems and theatrical scripts – Ms Kalina Jerzykowska. Due to the enormous popularity of her works, Ms Kalina was honoured with the title of Knight of the Order of the Smile.
During the two-hour meeting, the writer told the listeners what the process of creating a book looks like, explained where she gets her ideas for poems, and patiently answered countless questions. The students also had the opportunity to take part in a theatre-related competition. The greatest knowledge in this area was demonstrated by a sixth-grade student – Estera Zamojska, who received Ms Jerzykowska’s book with a special dedication as a prize.
The remaining students could purchase the author’s books with her autograph. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Ms Kalina Jerzykowska’s visit fits perfectly into the series of activities carried out by the Primary School in Ocice to promote reading among our students.
