The journey time for trains on the Wrocław–Zgorzelec line will be reduced, there will be more direct connections to German Görlitz, and an additional train mainly for students will be introduced. These are just some of the changes in the new PKP timetable, which will come into effect on December 10.

From Bolesławiec to Wrocław in an hour and a half

Thanks to the modernization of the Legnica–Zgorzelec railway route, which has been ongoing for two years, passenger train journey times will be significantly reduced. An express train will cover the route from Bolesławiec to Wrocław in an hour and a half, while the journey by a regular passenger train will take approximately two hours.

The “Kwisa” train for students

A new feature of the new timetable will be the “Kwisa” train from Wrocław to Lubań, introduced mainly with students returning home for the weekends in mind. It will be an express train running only on Fridays. The train will leave Wrocław Główny at 5:44 p.m. and arrive in Bolesławiec at 7:28 p.m. In the opposite direction, to Wrocław, “Kwisa” will run only on Sundays. It will depart from Bolesławiec at 5:54 p.m. and arrive at Wrocław Główny at 7:37 p.m.

The “Wrocławianin” train will not be discontinued

The “Wrocławianin” train operating between Zgorzelec and Warszawa Wschodnia will not be discontinued, contrary to concerns. This is mainly thanks to a group of people who every year fight with the authorities of PKP Przewozy Regionalne to maintain this connection in our region. However, some changes will take place. The “Wrocławianin” will be a fast train along its entire route. The journey time from Bolesławiec to Warsaw will be reduced to 7 hours, and likewise from Warsaw to Bolesławiec. Departure and arrival times at Bolesławiec station will also change. From December 10, the “Wrocławianin” to Warsaw will depart at 5:10 a.m., while its arrival in Bolesławiec will be at 10:30 p.m. At the same time, it will be the last train from Wrocław (departing at 8:52 p.m.) to Bolesławiec.

For unknown reasons, PKP InterCity withdrew its plans to launch a new TLK train between Kraków and Görlitz. Therefore, for now, the “Wrocławianin” will remain the only long-distance rail connection linking Bolesławiec with the rest of the country.

Rail connections to Żary, Zielona Góra and Jelenia Góra

Train service on the route from Węgliniec to Żary and Zielona Góra will resume on December 10, and the number of trains running on the Węgliniec–Jelenia Góra line will increase. At Węgliniec, trains to and from Żary and Jelenia Góra will be coordinated with trains to and from Wrocław.

More direct trains from Bolesławiec to Görlitz

The resumption of direct connections to Dresden was unsuccessful, but the number of trains to Görlitz will increase. There, trains from Poland will connect with German trains heading to Dresden. There will be four direct trains from Bolesławiec to the German city of Görlitz, departing at 7:20 a.m., 9:29 a.m., 3:17 p.m. and 5:29 p.m. Two of them will be express trains stopping only at Węgliniec.

We remind you that because of the ongoing modernization of the Legnica–Zgorzelec railway line, the timetable and train journey times may change while it is in effect.
