The concert will present the work and biographies of two Romanian composers from the same generation, including: Doina Rotaru, who remained in Bucharest despite Ceausescu's dictatorship, and Violeta Dinescu, who left her homeland in 1982 because of the communist regime and emigrated to West Germany. This raises the question of how visible the influences of her homeland are in this composer's work and how the element of being torn between and connecting these worlds manifests itself in her music. During the concert, the audience will have the opportunity to find the answer to this question for themselves in the music, as well as through the possibility of speaking directly with the composers.
The concert programme will additionally feature works by Claude Debussy and George Enescu, whose musical language had a significant influence on the work of both composers.
